There is a lisp channel at <a href="http://freenode.net/">Freenode</a> (formerly the Open Projects Network) where several lispers waste time. It's an excellent place to share stories from the trenches, get help from experienced lispers and chat about things lispers care about. To log on, connect to irc.freenode.net (or use the alias irc.lisp.se). There exists a highly opinionated guide to setting up Lisp <a href="http://www.unmutual.info/startingwithcl.html">here</a> (Link is down). <h2>#lisp</h2> The #lisp channel is logged. Logs are also available in a plain text format <a href="http://tunes.org/~nef/logs/lisp/">here</a>, <a href="http://ccl.clozure.com/irc-logs/lisp/">here</a>, and elaborate (searchable) format at <a href="http://www.ircbrowse.com/cdates.html?channel=lisp">ircbrowse.com</a> (inactive, april 2009). An infobot bot called minion (part of _(cl-irc)) is in the channel, logging and helping to remember things. It also has a bit of an attitude. An infobot called specbot is in the channel, and can help with searching the _(Hyperspec) - try saying "clhs: <query>" for making a query in the _(Hyperspec) <h2>#lispcafe</h2> A less formal channel for lisp-oriented discussion, socialization, community support at all levels of experience. Gurus and newbie lispers are welcome alike, as is any lisp dialect and probably other languages as well (whereas #lisp is a place for high-level discussion by experienced Lisp programmers). We just ask that you be cool to each other. <b>Note:</b> #cl-gardeners, which belonged to the _(Common Lisp Gardeners) Project, is now defunct and has merged with #lispcafe. <h2>#lispgames</h2> #lispgames is a friendly channel for _(LispGameDevelopers) using various lisp dialects, including Common Lisp. Among other things, the International Lisp Games Expo is coordinated there. <h2>#Lisp.Fi</h2> #Lisp.Fi is a channel for Finnish Lisp users in IRCNet network. We welcome all Lisp newbies and gurus alike from every dialect of Lisp family to join us and have nice discussions. <h2>#lisp-fr</h2> #lisp-fr is a channel for francophone Lisp users in IRCNet network. Join us to chat about every Lisp family dialect.
