Inverted Pyramid

Inverted Pyramid style begins with the conclusion, expressed as a single sentence. The first or next paragraph of text should then go on to give the most important points, leaving the details and supporting information to be expounded in the rest of the article.

Inverted pyramid style is widely practiced by print journalists; noted Web usability expert Jakob Nielson recommends its use on the Web too. CLiki encourages its use through the restrictions in the search result formatting, which will treat the first sentence and first paragraph as special.
